DR. JACKIE WALKER-C.PSYCHOLOGIST

Psychological services are often part of a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to assist with the management of numerous types of health difficulties and other difficulties. Psychological therapy includes strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and also includes mindfulness strategies. Psychological strategies are evidence based and have been demonstrated to be effective in improved management of numerous health conditions, including gastrointestinal and other health conditions, weight related difficulties, stress related difficulties, anxiety disorders, depression, and so forth. Psychological strategies can often involve learning and practicing changes in our behaviors and ways of thinking, and can involve changing our way of attending to our environment. Improving management of our health and self-care can improve our functioning in various areas of life (e.g., occupational functioning, social – leisure functioning), and can improve our general quality of life.

Fees for services are $180/50 mins. and are based on fee guidelines from our provincial society (the Manitoba Psychological Society). Private insurance plans (e.g., Blue Cross) may provide coverage for private psychological services. Please check with your private insurer for information regarding this.
